No Hossa for Habs

The Pittsburgh Penguins have aquired Marian Hossa and Pascal Dupuis for Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito and a first round pick.

The Habs were simply outbid by the pens, who aquired one of the most coveted forwards on deadline day.

Bob Gainey stated how Atlanta wanted 4 elements in the trade for Marian Hossa. By looking at the deal made by Pittsburgh, it would seem as if the Habs would give up Higgins, Ryder, Grabovski and a 1st round pick.

Pittsburgh may have been able to give up as much as they did, seeing the depth that they have in talented players, while the same deal could have cost the Habs both this year and in the long run.
