Tomas Plekanec scored his first career hat-trick, as the Canadiens beat the Buffalo Sabres 6-2 to take over the Northeast division Lead.
Plekanec score the game winner at 5:34 into the period, on his second of three goals.
Mark Streit had a goal and 2 assists, and Alex Kovalev had 4 assists. Carey Price made 31 saves, on a night where his former teammate, Cristobal Huet, had a shutout for the Washington capitals. It was also the second time this year the both Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn scored in the same game.
